Why do we persist in creating someone that could fill gossip pages? I get that people are interested in celebrities when they are artists and have achieved something in their particular career choice, but what I fail to understand is why the media continuously exalts those who add nothing to society except scandal or the fact that they are loaded with cash.
Once again Geoff Edelsten has managed to make the tabloids because the old man has proposed to yet another young, voluptuous blonde. There should be a rule that prohibits marriages with such an age gap without prior counselling. Especially if there has been a set precedent that said man does not seem to make his relationships last.
Geoffrey Edelsten proposes to Gabi Grecko
I honestly feel for this young woman. She may indeed feel she is in love, but fact is that the media is catapulting her life into the spotlight purely because of its oddity.
And therein lies my issue. It's not news.
Geoff may have been worthy of some journalism when he was being prosecuted, but now he is simply an old man that has served his time and he is just battling to make a living without using his public persona to elevate his status.
Please tabloid journalists, lay off the Edelstens, the Kardashians and the Hiltons and give us some interesting facts about the amazing work real artists achieve every day. As much as you think this sells, both our lives are worth more than to waste it writing or reading about these people.
